Near And Far Pre ssignment
Our Next Asssignment Is the Near And Far Assignment. In this assignment we are going to be working with many different landscapes. Growing up in Gloucester is just a bonus, Everywhere you turn there's a new, breathtaking landscape. For these pictures to come out perfect we have to get everything in focus from the objects/ people in front of you to the object/ people miles away. Now, how do we do this? i plan to set my focus point on the object/ person in the middle landscape, so that way it will focus the forground, middleground, AND backround. I hope to get good pictures of the lanscape near our beautiful harbor, and beaches. This assignment relys on depth of field to be the main focus, so i need to take pictures of larger landscapes. I reasurched further and watched this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlQaiCPTFS4&feature=player_embedded to help me get a better idea of how to shoot a landscape photo. I will go out and take many different picute, but choose my best 3 in the end and will be postin them later on next week!

Shutter Speed Priority Post Assignment
Over the past week and a half i have been out taking pictures for my Shutter Speed Priority assignment. I realized that it wasn't as easy as it seemed, If you didn't capture the picture at the exact time, the picture came out blurry. I set my s\camera settings to a white balance at daylight, an ISO at 400, and i changed shot from single to continuous. I mostly took pictures of my friends jumping out of things, running, skipping, and leaping. None of which really worked out as well as i had wished. I sorta had trouble on this assignment, and they definitely are not my best pictures. But out of all i took, here are the 3 i think are the best.

Eadweard Muybridge
Eadweard was another artist that I admire for their Shutter Speed Priority. So many of his pictures have amazed me more and more. Eadweard was born on April 9, 1830, and died may 8, 1904. He was an English photographer known for his work with photographic studies in motion and motion picture projection. He was known for his motion pictures in 1877 and 1878, But in his earlier days, He was known more for his land scape photography. Eadweard's most productive period was during the 1880's at the University Of Pennsylvania, In Philadelphia. Here, he produced over 100,000 images of animals and human is motion. He spent most of his later years involved in public speaking and showing of his photography and early motion picture. I looked through a good portion of his pictures and picked the 3 i liked best, enjoy!
Harold Edgerton
Edgerton was born in Fremont, Nebraska, April 6, 1903. In 1925 Edgerton received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University Of Nebraska At Lincoln. After graduating from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Edgerton married Esther May Garrett in 1928. Edgerton was best in using short duration electronic flash in photographing fast events photography. He is one of the many artists that use Shutter Speed Priority, and i looked into his work allot, to help me with my Shutter Speed Assignment. He was really good at taking his motion pictures at the perfect time, making all of his photos fantastic. I really enjoyed looking into his works.
I looked through a bunch of his photos and here are the 3 i like the most!

Get close (second artist) Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams was born February 20, 1902 and died April 22, 1984. Ansel was an American photographer and environmentalist that is very popular for his work. he works most known are his black and white landscape photographs of the American West, especially Yosemite National Park (click link to see). Adams developed the zone system as a way to determine the proper exposure and contrast, with the help of Fred Archer. Ansel was a hyperactive child prone to sickness and hypochondria. He grew up with surroundings such as the Golden Gate and Marin Headlands, providing great areas to play. He was very interested in the outside world starting at a younger age, he was always picking up bugs and showing friends/ family. At 4 years old Ansel was tossed face first into his garden during the after shock of the San Francisco earthquake. In 1927, Adams produced hi8s first portfolio, Pramelian Prints Of The High Sierras, and from there on his photo career grew. In the course of his 60 years of photography, the 1930s were a more productive and experimental time. Adams expanded his works, focusing on detailed close ups and large forms from mountains to factories. Adams did not work with just black and white, he also experimented with color. His subjects that he shot in color ranged from portraits to landscape to architecture.

Shutter Speed Priority Pre Assignment
Shutter Speed is the length of time a camera's shutter is open when taking a photograph. In our Shutter Speed Priority assignment, we use shutter speed to take pictures of moving people. All of my pictures are mostly of friends jumping off stuff and running, but there's many other ways you can do it.For this assignment i was mostly outside so i set the white balance of my Cannon at daylight, for my ISO I mostly set it as 400, but on cloudy days I would move it up. To take good motion pictures I set my camera for continuous shot, so that way i could get a shot by shot album, in which i could find the point in the jump (or run) i liked the most. As i continued on with this assignment through out the week i realized the pictures came out better when you captured them with an angle of looking up from the ground, so i spent allot of time on the ground, resulting in grass stains, so make sure you wear cloths you don't care about while shooting. Also, be aware of your surroundings before you jump, because my friends and I found a few of the jumps to be very painful and an experience we wouldn't establish again.

Finished Get Close
A little while ago, i told you guys about the famous photographer, Imogene Cunningham. Imogene was known for her her close up pictures of flowers. Our assignment was the "Get Close" assignment. For this assignment we took a close up picture only focusing on one part of the picture, which in my case are the flowers (roses). We were aloud to "Get Close" to anything in our pictures but I decided to go for more of a Imogene Cunningham look and do all flowers. Her most most famous pictures were ones of the Magnolia Flower, she found lots of success in her way of photography, as did I. I took about 25-30 pictures of many different flowers over the last week, but I found that roses seemed to work best for me. I picked 3 of my favorite and edited them on photo shop, here they are!

Paul Strand Finished Photos
Earlier on in my blog, i told you about Paul Strand and how i was going to approach my assignment. I had said that I had not had a main focus on the way i wanted to take my pictures, and that i wanted to try a little of everything. But as i got going on taking my pictures, I soon realized that i liked the shadowing portion of Paul Strands photography than anything else and stuck with just taking pictures of them. I took about 40 but I have finally decided that these are the 3 I definitely like the most, enjoy!
